We were unable to find drivers for your product. Try manually selecting your operating system. If your operating system is not listed then HP may not provide driver support for your product with that operating system.

To install the hp driver the same way as installing other applications, the way is easy enough just follow the instructions that exist when the driver is installed to the computer. Each display for the driver install menu is different because it is adjusted to the function of the device, so when installing the driver it is mandatory to read the guide before clicking next/install.

To do so, you can choose to download the driver for HP Color LaserJet Managed M553 series manually, or download the driver automatically, which saves you a bunch of time and energy so you can work on more valuable things.

Please note that the automatic update option is for Pro subscribers only, otherwise, you can only download the driver file for HP Color LaserJet Managed M553 series then update it manually by following the instructions here in this post.

I want to download the latest print driver (Windows 10) from the HP website. There are two files listed there. One for version 3 of this printer, the other for version 4. Nowhere on the printer or the documentation that came with it does it say which version I have. How can I tell?

This printer is compatible with Microsoft Windows 32-bit and 64-bit Operating Systems. It also supports Mac OS X. You can download the necessary HP Color LaserJet Enterprise M553 driver for your computer from the HP website. This installation process will be easy and will not take too long.

HP Color LaserJet Enterprise M553 series drivers are available for 32-bit and 64-bit PCs. The driver for this printer series is compatible with Windows 10, Windows XP, and Windows Vista. You can find the driver for your model of printer by going to the HP website and identifying the operating system that your printer runs on.

This driver is available in the HPLIP Printer Application HP Linux Imaging and Printing (HPLIP) is an HP-developed solution for printing, scanning, and faxing with HP inkjet and laser based printers in Linux. The HPLIP project provides printing support for over 3000 printer models, including Deskjet, Officejet, Photosmart, PSC (Print, Scan, Copy), Business Inkjet, Envy, NeverStop, Smart Tank, Tango, DesignJet, (Color) LaserJet, Mopier, Edgeline MFP, and LaserJet MFP. Note that most HP models are supported, but a few are not. See Supported Devices at the HPLIP website for more information. HPLIP is free, open source software distributed under the MIT, BSD, and GPL licenses. HP does not provide formal consumer or commercial support for this software. HPLIP contains two flavors of the printer driver. The default driver is the CUPS Raster driver "hpcups" and as alternative the older IJS-based HPIJS driver is still available, but its development and support has been discontinued. In addition there are ready-made PPD files for all supported PostScript printers, so that they get used in PostScript mode. HPLIP ships updated PPD files for all HP printers and both driver flavors. Therefore we do not provide PPD files here. For non-HP printers which work with HPIJS we provide PPDs via the driver entries "hpijs-pcl3", "hpijs-pcl5e", "hpijs-pcl5c".

You might want to look for newer drivers on HP's site. This HP support page says that Apple no longer provides print drivers through Apple Software Update (not sure about drivers on Apple Support Web pages), and has a link to HP's driver site.

You could erase and start over, and this tiime NOT do a clean install, and instead migrate. Although some refer to even that as a "clean install" vs manually copying and downloading and reinstalling apps.

I had the same issue before, and a colleague told me to try this site for software and drivers, where I luckily found one for my HP printer too. Give it a try if you can find one that will work for your HP printer.

In order to get the best performance from your HP LaserJet M604 / M604n series printers you must regularly update their HP printer driver with its latest versions. The HP LaserJet M604 / M604n printer has been designed for use in business environment and has all the features which can improve the productivity of office workgroups. This HP monochrome laser printer supports USB and Ethernet connectivity. Its scanner driver is also included in its driver package.

In this driver download guide, you will get the HP LaserJet M604 / M604n series driver download links for Windows, Mac and Linux operating systems. All the drivers you will get from this page are genuine HP printer drivers. Along with the drivers we have also provided their detailed installation guides so that you can install your drivers without any problems.

All the operating systems supported by this HP printer series have been mentioned in our OS list given below. Follow the download steps mentioned below to get the right printer driver for your OS version.

While installing the printer drivers of this HP printer series you must ensure that you are following the right installation process. Therefore, we are sharing below the detailed installation guides for the HP LaserJet M604 / M604n series driver package and the HP LaserJet M604 / M604n series INF driver. Study the installation guide which is related to your driver type and follow its instructions in the correct order to properly install your HP printer driver.

Long story short... we have a local print server through which all of our networked printers are installed and shared to users' workstations. We're attempting to move away from using V3 drivers (which require local admin privilege's to install) and transition to V4 drivers so that our end users can freely install and use printers without assistance from IT. After swapping all of the drivers over, most of the devices have been successfully printing w/o issue, but some have been printing an additional PCL XL error page after the print jobs completion.

If you're looking to print 8.5x11 pages with little-to-no custom settings. Try downloading and using the "Microsoft IPP Class Driver". (It may already be installed on your print server, or you may need to manually search for it by specifying a driver and using Windows Update)

Please note, although this removes the PCL XL error page. You will lose all custom printer preference settings that aren't landscape/portrait orientation. (that is the only setting we retained on the devices we tested this driver on)

New M404n being connected via USB to Windows 10 (202H) laptop. Downloaded and ran "LJM404-M405_V4_DriveronlyWebpack_48.4.4586.exe" from the HP support site, and it unpacked a lot of modules to "C:\HP_LJM404-M405". Then connected printer, and it printed with no further intervention. I suspect, however, it is using some Microsoft USB driver, as Device Manager lists the printer only under USB devices and gives the driver provider as Microsoft. (One complication is that I had previously installed the HP Universal Printer Driver for an M533dn that I use at another location over TCP/IP in my LAN.)

Use the same UPD driver that you use for the M553. You simply need to download the USB utility from the UPD download page. Run that then connect the printer and it should connect and use the UPD driver.

Thanks again, Repairatrooper -- I apologize for my ignorance, but I haven't installed a print driver by hand for a long time. After expanding the driver package as described in my first post, what do I do? Does HP still have a blow-by-blow instruction for installing these basic drivers, or should I just follow the Windows 10 new printer "wizard?" -- jclarkw

The driver installer file automatically installs the HP PCL.6driver for your printer. This is a driver-only software solutionintended for users who want a print driver to use with their HPdevice. This software installation can be used on PC's which do notmeet the minimum system requirements necessary to install the FullFeatured software solution. This IS NOT a full softwaresolution.

An interesting tidbit is that we cannot update the driver no matter how we try. I connected the printer via USB and the software from HP says "device not found". I tried via ip address and hostname, and I get the same error. Yet when I go through windows and add through devices and printers, it has no problem finding it via IP. It then grabs the device driver from our print server which I believe was supplied by either Windows update or the printer itself (Do M553's store the driver inside like home models?). Can't remember how we got the driver in, in the first place.

Any Enterprise HP printer will function best with the HP UPD driver, either PCL 6 or PS. If you are using built in windows drivers you will not get the performance or features that the printer offers. First go into the Embedded WebServer on the printer and disable WSD services. Example below is a different current HP but should point you in the right direction to find the setting to turn it off.
